Sunday March 29th Tai’s Thesis Writing Retreat, John’s Kayaking Adventures
We said Goodbye to Alena on Saturday Night and then there we were: Tai, John and I ready to support each other in our solitary work. Yes, it was time for Tai to finish the final pages of her master’s thesis and I had volunteered to stay with her in the Estes family cabin in order to doula this work and ensure it was completed within a week. I was also supporting my brother’s dream of hiking and camping and kayaking in the pacific Northwest. Tai got started right away on Saturday night and wrote for 2 1/2 hours finishing the diagram for her Sacred Erotic Psychology Praxis chapter. I got up Sunday and enjoyed three hors of solitude before either of them got up. John had his Peterson Guide and binoculars out and cheerfully showed me the names of the birds he had identified: Buffle Head duck, Golden Eye, Double breasted Cormorants, Kingfishers, common mergansers, rufus hummingbirds, Stellar Jays, a thrasher and an Otter. By the end of the day Tai had written over 4,500 words and completed the first sections of the chapter on Praxis. I started to read Bill Plotkin’s “Soul Craft: Crossing Into the Mysteries of Nature and Psyche”, which has been on my must read list for two years now. I also began working on these blogs and my newsletter and attending to back logged emails and phone calls. John went on a 5 hour adventure; kayaking across lake Sutherland hiking 1 mile to the ranger station to find it closed.
Monday March 30 Writing is Flowing Hair is dyed, Kayaks are paddled
When I got up this morning at 7am the lake was covered in fog. It was a perfect way to meditate watching the sun warm the lifting veils of fog. I drank pelligrno water with Grandma harlan’s Cascadia Bitters and roobios chia tea with Hemp milk most of the day. John went out on another kayak trip, this time to get a burger at Granny’s. Tai got up by Noon and started writing immediately and she sits next to me writing this at 11:45 faithfully plugging away.
I am not sure what will happen tomorrow after I finish working on my newsletter and send it out. Jessa Fasel is coming to visit and I may rent a car from Port Angeles so I can drive to Port Townshend on Thursday and make it easier for Benjamin Pixie to pick up John and I on Sunday. Tai will get back to Seattle by Sunday night and I will get back to Portland with John by Tuesday the 7th. Blessings beautiful readers and thanks for reading this blog.
