Leela & I made cupcakes that Josie & Eliana and I decorated! then we ate some and then I dropped them off on friends doorsteps later that evening.

Nick Cave “Meet Me at the Center of the Earth” installations at Seattle Art Museum
I attended this on Friday June 3rd with Peter & Joan and went again with Leela and Josie on Sunday the 5th the day it was closing.
Nick Caves hairsuits and sound suits and the videos of the performance art they were used in deeply affected me. I was intruiged to learn that his first sound suits were a direct response to news reports and the video of the Rodney King beatings. The sound suits are both imaginative coats of armor designed to protect and conceal and ancestral tributes to Indigeinous African Rituals invoking ancestors and nature spirits. The gallery showing opened with a 15 ft bear totem made of stipped fashion labeled sweaters and stood as a guardian at the gateway of the exhibit. Hair suits towering over normal human height and announcing themselves with neon colors and loud geometric circles painted onto soft hairy fake furs. Each piece designed to fit Nick Cave. Each piece with soft fabric leggings in knitted crocheted appliqued fabrics. Powerful, intruiging and mystical. What a treat. Click here for information about the exhibit.
Avanti Art & Design June 30/30/30 show
Great idea: ask 30 artists to paint 30 4X4 pieces in 30 days and sell for $30 or more. Show Standouts: Kathy McKeever’s altar boxes, Karen Floyds beautiful acrylic paintings of visual puns and sex positive shenanigins, Ian Henderon’s imaginative 30 views of Mt. Rainier featuring volcanic eruptions, wildlife, UFO abductions and sandstorms. Avanti shows are the 2nd Friday of every month as part of the Phnney Rdge/Greenwood Art Walk. 6-9pm catch it! I will be in the July 30/30/30 show and am debuting my piece: “Opening the gates of Heaven: 30 Sacred Whores”. This features 30 images of people I personally know of mentors/teachers I work with who are embodying sacred sexuality work. Many of my friends have been turned into cartoons and been woven into 3-D mixed media collages using everything from papyrus and glitter to old boxes and rose petals. Thirty fabulous pieces celebrating sexual liberation and shameless lovelust. Come to the opening July 8th!
Tara Mandala & Tsultrim Allione
I discovered the book Women of Wisdom (1984), after hearing the name Yeshe Tsogyel loudly in my head while meditating and searching my book shelves for more information. Yeshe Tsogyel was a 8th century female mystic; the consort of Padmasambhava and an enlightened being whose next incarnation was Maching Lapdron I found out that the author Tsulltrim Allione is not only an expert on the life and works of 11th century Tibetan Dakini Maching Lapdron but that she is considered by Lama (this info is in the evernote notes from Shamballa Snow Lion Newsletter) to be the current emanation of Maching Lapdron. Lovely!
In 1994 She and Davd Petits bought 700 acres of land in Colorado and began to create Tara Mandala a Tibetan Buddhist Retreat center specifically focused on the DIvine Feminine aspects of this religion. Chod practice was created by Maching Lapdron. Tsultrim Allione has brilliantly turned CHOD into an accessible psychological technique called Feeding Your Demons, click to learn more.

My dear beloved friend Judith Sparks lives in Eugene, OR. It is her art work I have been consuming for more than 15 years now. Below is the link to her website which was made possible because I took David Whelan down to Eugene in 2007 to introduce him to the magical world of her private studio. He was as enchanted as I have always been and he photographed her work. Judith has gifted me with several of her works over the years and I have purchased may of her cards and prints as well. I get to look at both Summer and Aphrodite & Thanatos everyday because they are in my house. I am so blessed! Be sure to check out her website!
