We gathered on one of those golden seattle days. the kind of blue sky summer day that lures even the most “emo” pacific northwesterner to the the water or the mountains. either way, it was the type of day one couldn’t help but feel like getting out into nature. thus it was that type of merry feeling that inspired our gathering. rather than feeding out own rest & relaxation needs, the few of us that gathered, had a bigger sense of connecting with nature in mind. our sense of engagement with nature was something much bigger than self, we committed to building a home for bees.
a whimsical idea, fraught with folly, attempting to build a home for bees. but easily overcome by a playful heart.
A friend had quipped, “why not just buy a box and be done already?”…honest “efficient” thinking I thought. especially if one’s only perspective is honey & money for me. such thinking however leave little room in regard to the bees and the mystical work they do.
so while we toiled away on a beautiful sun drenched saturday it was refreshing to be among a group of people that understood this special moment we were creating together; taking time to experience the sacred in the everyday. the task is far from complete. Not only did we not complete our desired structure, we realized more sacred work (and for that matter thinking) need to go in this world. So the work on the farm continues and you are all welcome to lend a hand, heart.. mind
