Olympic National Park protects the largest unmanaged herd of Roosevelt elk in the world. Olympic was almost named “Elk National Park” and was established in part to protect these stately animals.

Hoh Rainforest

The Hoh rainforest is the largest temperate rainforest in North America. Located 36 miles from the city of Forks (made famous as the fictional location of the Christian Vampire novels and films in the Twilight series), The Hoh offers accessible trails and an amazing diversity of plant and wild life.

7 min film by someone camping in Hoh Rainforest in Sept 2013, just the sounds and a campfire: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y6LGP85Uk7Y

Kalaloch Lodge

Kalaloch Lodge is at the SouthWestern tip of the Olympic peninsula, right on the beach and about an hour from the Hoh Rainforest

To make reservations or view the map of the lodge go to their website here: www.thekalalochlodge.com

To view the menus (because the Lodge is 75 miles from any other place where you can buy a sit down meal and about 60 miles from a convenience store…) http://www.thekalalochlodge.com/Menus.aspx

Live webcam of Kalaloch Lodge: http://pixelcaster.com/dnc-kalaloch/kalaloch.jpg ( meaning an actual live film of what it looks like there right now! Ain’t technology grand!)
